In the MPI Spine course, you will learn how to deal specifically with the palpation and adjustment set-ups needed for the cervical, thoracic, lumbar and sacroiliac regions. The MPI Spine course will cover spinal biomechanics and manipulation, along with the motion palpation scan and case management.

This 12 hour hands on seminar will deal specifically with the palpation and adjustment set-ups required for the cervical, thoracic, lumbar, and sacroiliac areas.
- Review of spinal biomechanics and current literature on manipulation.
- Motion Palpation full spine scan.
- Specific upper cervical palpation and adjusting.
- Specific lumbar palpation and adjusting.
- Specific thoracolumbar palpation and adjusting.
- Specific sacroilac palpation and adjusting.
- Specific cervicothoracic palpation and adjusting.
- Specific mid and upper thoracic palpation and adjusting.
- Review and case management.
It is recommended that you bring a portable adjusting table and toggle board to the seminar.
Objectives
By the end of the program, the attendee will be able to:
- understand the fundamentals of joint complex dysfunction
- perform static and dynamic joint assessments including palpation of the surrounding soft tissues of the cervical, thoracic, lumbar and pelvic regions
- understand how posture impacts joint complex dysfunction
- understand the indications and contraindications of when to utilize various adjustive procedures of the cervical, thoracic, lumbar and pelvic regions
Instructor
Dr. Sarah Macchi
Sarah Macchi, DC graduated in 1996 from Lakehead University with an Honours Bachelor of Kinesiology degree. She went on to attend Northwestern Health Sciences University graduating Summa Cum Laude in 2002.
While at NWHSU, Sarah was president of the Motion Palpation Club and completed her clinical externship at Mt. Lookout Chiropractic and Sports Injury Center under the direction of Dr. Mark King (MPI President). She practiced for 2 years in Columbus, Ohio before returning to Canada to set up private practice, where she co-founded Active Edge Chiropractic in Canmore, Alberta.
Dr. Macchi utilizes several manual therapy techniques in her practice including ART, Graston Technique, FAKTR, Kinesio Taping and Neurodynamic Treatment. Sarah is a DNS Certified Practitioner and DNS Certified Exercise Trainer who takes an evidence- informed, functional approach to patient care. She utilizes an active care model that is patient focused and outcome oriented, empowering patients to participate in their care.
Sarah has been teaching internationally for the Motion Palpation Institute since 2007, presenting hands on classes in North America, South America and Europe. As a smaller chiropractor, she understands the challenges that can face students and practicing doctors when learning to become proficient and effective at manipulation. She hopes to motivate and inspire her students and fellow chiropractors to commit to developing their skills and becoming the best adjusters they can be, regardless of their size.
