Prerequisites and Provisos

In order to participate in this course, attendees must have completed NDS UQ/LQ Level 1, as well as a DNS A or Exercise 1. Participants must also pay a Prague School Registration Fee of 80 Euros directly to the Prague School through the buttons below (scroll to the bottom of the selected course page).

Course Description

Neurodynamic Solutions (NDS) is a comprehensive system aimed at evaluating and managing peripheral nerve injuries and the neurodynamic component of musculoskeletal syndromes, but it does not enter the realm of assessing or restoring postural stabilization, motor control or locomotor function. 

DNS is a comprehensive system of evaluating and restoring optimal musculoskeletal function, but it does not delve into or provide a system for evaluating and managing peripheral nerve injuries or the neurodynamic component related to musculoskeletal syndromes. 

Therefore, this course aims to integrate exercise into the system of Neurodynamic Solutions. 

Through a blend of lecture and lab, Q&A, and small-group learning, participants will leave this course with a keen understanding of exercise-based applications for common peripheral nerve injuries.

Day 1

9AM - 1 PM: Introduction, Low Back Pain and Radiculopathy

2 PM - 5 PM: Neck Pain and Radiculopathy

10 AM - 12 PM: Piriformis Syndrome

  • Patient Presentation, Treatment Progressions, Prognosis and Planning

12 PM - 2 PM: Applying the Principles - Case Studies & Small Group Learning

  • Each group will be assigned a case study featuring a clinical condition not previously discussed in the course. Each case will include a defined patient presentation including assessment findings, which the groups will use to define a diagnosis, treatment plan and progressions.

Course Objectives

  • Anatomy, biomechanics, pathomechanics, and pathophysiology of the aforementioned clinical conditions.
  • Evidence-based evaluation and diagnosis
  • Integrate the NDS system of diagnosis and treatment progressions for the mechanical interface, nerve, and innervated tissue with exercise-based applications for common clinical conditions.

Instructor

Dr. Michael Maxwell

Dr. Michael Maxwell has been a fitness, health, exercise rehabilitation and manual therapy nerd since 1998. As a personal trainer, strength and conditioning coach, kinesiologist, and Chiropractor, he has sought out key mentors, courses, and conferences to accelerate the acquisition of knowledge and skills necessary to help his clients and patients.

Frustrated by the lack of practical knowledge and skills provided in his Exercise Science undergraduate degree, and inspired by the extra-curricular conferences and courses he had previously attended, Dr. Maxwell began facilitating workshops and seminars that featured practical, hands-on content, taught by industry leaders. This is what led to the formation of Somatic Senses Education.
