Concussion & Vestibular Rehab – Toronto 2019

June 7, 2019 @ 9:00 am - June 9, 2019 @ 3:00 pm PDT

$895 – $1095

Course Description

The long term impact of concussions mTBIs can be devastating. As a clinician, you’ve likely seen this in practice time and time again. The whiplash patient. The hockey player who took a hit to the head. The elderly patient who slipped on the ice. Aside from the amorphous and debilitating long term psychological changes someone can experience, there are very real and tangible changes that happen in the human body on both microscopic and macroscopic levels.

Despite this, our patients often have a difficult time portraying exactly the information and symptomatology that we might need to assess progress and rehab appropriately. We are often lacking the tools and the insights to engage the full human being’s capacity to heal itself, often because of our segmented understanding of the intricacies of the many working parts.

This course aims to fix that problem for us. Through it you will learn about concussions and vestibular rehab from two distinct perspectives: central mechanisms and peripheral inputs. Most courses in this area focus very heavily on purely anatomical, purely physiological, or algorithmic approaches to bringing a patient through rehab. The intent of this course is to understand the full spectrum of implications and techniques associated with concussion and vestibular rehab from both a central and peripheral viewpoint. There will be a heavy focus on neuroscience with a strong integration with MSK inputs and the techniques that are commonly used in day-to-day practice. A truly full body, integrative approach to concussion and vestibular rehab is explored and practiced over three days.
